Engine Optimization | Optimize website for
higher ranking
After
developing a great website, it's important to let everyone knows
about your website. Your website will become very popular when it
has good content and high ranking on search engines. Search engine
traffic is the most targeted traffic as people search for something
they want, which is what you have on your website. We have
summarized search engine optimization work as an 8 step process:
Step 1:
Keyword Analysis
Selecting
proper keywords to target for each page will ensure that you receive
qualified visitors to specific pages within your website. You first need to know what are the popular keywords people usually search
for. There are some websites providing list of popular keywords, narrow down
to specific industry or services. PremiumReseller.com provides
hosting
service with awstats statistic program reporting information
which search engines send visitors to your site
and which keywords being used. By using these tools, you will have a good idea of some keywords and keyword phrases to target.
Step2:
Analyze the Competition
By looking
at your competitors websites and analyzing the keywords using, you can get a good idea of some keywords that you
might want to target. You might not decide to use all of the same
keywords they are targeting, or you might get some ideas of other
similar keyword phrases to target to try to get the visitors that
they aren’t attracting. By gathering the keyword phrases you can analyze that data against your website
for the same keywords and see who will get higher rank in search
results once your website is optimized.
Step 3:
Content Development
Content
and how it is displayed is a key step in the Search Engine
Optimization process. You want to make sure that your Title Tags,
Heading Tags, and descriptive text contain your keywords. It's
recommended to have keywords on top part of the web page. Obviously,
you need to make sure that the content is fluent and easy to read.
Do not create a website for search engines with full of keywords.
Make sure that "meta tags" are optimized – use keyword phrases in
the meta description tag and the meta keyword tag. Make sure to use
keyword phrases in the text links that link to pages within your web
site. It's essential to have your website complete, both content and
structure, before promoting the website.
Step 4:
Generate Back Links (Inbound Links)
One
important step to have high search engine placement is having a high
page rank. Search engines evaluate a website with high page rank as
a website being popular with other websites, which means you must
have quality inbound links from other websites to your web site. You
can add website to online web directories. It's important to have
back links from websites related to your site, especially backlinks
from websites that have high page rank.
Step 5:
Submit Website to Search Engines and Directories
Manually
submit your website to all of the major search engines such as
Yahoo, Google, MSN, and
other web directories. When submitting your web site, submit different pages
of targeted keywords. It is not a good idea to submit all of the pages in
one day. You should start with home page and then work down with what you feel is the most
relevant.
After
submitting website it might take up to 3 months for some of
the search engines to index and start displaying on their search
results. Search Engine Optimization takes time. It takes time to
build page rank, sometimes might be 9-12 months and require ongoing
efforts.
Step 6:
Monitor and Report on Placement Progress
Keep track
of your search engine rankings on a monthly basis for the different keywords that you
are targeting. It's good to do a search for targeted keywords weekly
to see the progress and keep a report monthly. You will see progress
as your inbound links grow. For popular keywords you will need a few
hundreds inbound links to be on the first page on Yahoo, Google or
MSN.
